Alyse Finch – Research Project Coordinator

Alyse is the Research Project Coordinator in the MoCCA Lab focusing on the Office of Navy Research grant that Dr. Zabelina received in February of 2021. Before joining the MoCCA lab, Alyse earned her Master of Arts degree in Psychological Research from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Her research focused on the underlying mechanisms of learning and memory, more specifically, how those mechanisms change as we age. Eventually, Alyse plans to attend a Clinical Psychology PhD program to continue her learning journey. When Alyse isn’t working in the lab, she enjoys spending time with her family and pets, gardening, and exploring NWA.

John Clay – Professional Research Assistant

John is a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University, where he majored in both psychology and business.  Before pursuing his Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology, he is taking a gap year to both gain knowledge and explore his interests.  His main research interests entail the cognitive mechanisms behind creativity, with a focus on how attention affects these processes.  Outside of academic interests, he enjoys playing music, drawing, and running.

Jennifer Standridge – Professional Research Assistant

Jennifer is a senior majoring in Biology and Psychology. Her interests include neuroimaging and hereditary diseases. After graduation, she plans to pursue a graduate degree in either neuroscience or genetics. She loves reading, volunteering, traveling, and spending time with her cats!

 

Hannah Carothers

Hannah is a first-year graduate student pursuing her Master of Science in Counselor Education with a focus on Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her interests include learning how to apply cognitive psychology knowledge and techniques to the everyday counseling/therapeutic relationship. In the future, Hannah plans to get her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision and practice as a college mental health counselor. Some of her interests include doing yoga, reading, antique shopping, and teaching her cat tricks (she currently knows 9 tricks!).

 

Savannah Endsley

Savannah is a sophomore majoring in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. She is interested in how she can help others using Cognitive Psychology. After she graduates, she plans to obtain her PhD in forensic or clinical psychology. With this career path, she wants to help others who are struggling with mental health while also raising awareness. In her free time, she enjoys running, hammocking, and spending time with friends and family.

 

Cierra Denton

Cierra is a senior majoring in Psychology and minoring in French. She is interested in helping others through research in cognitive psychology. After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school and work toward her master’s in psychology. With this broad career path, she plans to go anywhere her help and specialization is needed. In her free time, she loves making art, collecting plants, and cooking!

 

Emily Fox

Emily is a sophomore majoring in psychology and minoring in social work. She is interested in cognitive psychology and how the inner workings of the brain affect how a person acts or thinks. After graduating with her Bachelor’s degree, she aims to use psychology either in research, the field of social work, or occupational therapy. In her free time, she plays lacrosse on the women’s club lacrosse team, hangs out with her friends, and listens to music.

 

Grace Glover

Grace is a sophomore psychology student. Her interests include behavioral neuroscience and its connection to psychopathology along with an interest in forensic psychology. She plans to graduate with her B.A. in psychology and go onto graduate school to obtain her  PhD. with an emphasis on psychopathology. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music and hosting her radio show on KXUA, being outdoors, and spending time with friends.

 

Cindy Mao

Cindy is a junior majoring in Psychology and Public Health and minoring in Statistics and Spanish. Her interests include neuroscience techniques and imaging, as well as neural connections and pathways. After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school to obtain a PhD in cognitive neuroscience. She enjoys biking, hiking, volunteering, and spending time with friends and family!

 

Carson Moore

Carson is a junior honors student majoring in Psychology and Communication. After graduation, she hopes to go to graduate school in pursuit of a master’s degree in clinical psychology. Her primary interest with this career path is to provide therapy to at risk youth, and spread mental health awareness. Outside of school she loves crocheting, reading, and making art!

 

Alexis Smith

Alexis is a senior majoring in Biochemistry and Psychology. Her specific interests include behavioral neuroscience. After she graduates, she plans to take a gap year to get more involved in research, gain more experience in the field of psychology, and even travel some. After her gap year, Alexis plans to attend medical school to become a psychiatrist so she can work closely with teens and young adults to bring awareness and understanding to mental health. Outside of school, she enjoys listening to podcasts, thrifting, hiking, traveling, and finding things out of her comfort zone to do or try.
